The Show, held at St. Aelred's Technology College, Newton-le-Willows,
was an outstanding success, well supported by both exhibitors and visitors.
The main honours went to Mrs. Hazel Clark of Appleton, Warrington, who gained the highest total number of points in the Show together with the Royal Horticultural Society Banksian medal, and Dennis Wintle from Atherton who won best in Show with his superb four vase exhibit in the championship chrysanthemum class. Mr. Wintle also won the National Chrysanthemum Society Silver Medal.

- National Dahlia Society Silver and Bronze medals for the best and second-best exhibits in the dahlia section.
- British Gladiolus Society bronze medal for the best exhibit in the gladioli section.
- National Vegetable Society medal for the most meritorious exhibit in vegetables.
- Royal National Rose Society bronze medal for the best exhibit in the rose section.
- British Fuchsia Society Blue Rosette for the best exhibit in the Fuchsia section.
Garden News Top Vase awards:- First and third - Chris Nightingale from Westhoughton. Second - Stuart Clensy from Maghull.
Garden News Top Tray awards:- First - Albert Lyon. Second - Peter Dorman.
The Committee would like to thank the exhibitors, visitors, and extra helpers on the day, and also all those who sponsored classes in the Show, and the hundreds of members and friends who bought and sold Grand Draw tickets. All of whom ensured that we had a very successful day.
