RULES AND REGULATIONS
GRAND FLOWER & VEGETABLE SHOW 
SATURDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2009
Conditions of Entry
All classes are open to both member and non-member amateur growers.

Only two entries per person per class allowed unless otherwise stated.   Entry fees: 20p per entry.  Children  FREE.

No Exhibit once entered, may be transferred to any other class without permission of at least TWO officers or stewards of the Association who must be satisfied that a genuine error has been made.

All entries must be grown by or have been in the possession of the Exhibitor for two months (except for Floral Art and Children's classes).

The committee reserves the right to examine the garden of any Exhibitor.

A NOVICE is a person who has not won a 1st in the section of entry in any show (except for Floral Art - in which a Novice is one who has never won three 1st prizes in any Show)

Please complete the entry form and forward it to the Show Secretary with the entry fee.  

Alternatively, telephoned entries to the Show Secretary will be accepted.  Please try to phone potential entries before 5.00pm on Friday11th September,  to enable adequate staging spaces to be allocated as early as possible.     Late entries should be taken direct to St. Aelred's R.C. Technology College, Birley Street.

Presentation
Whenever possible exhibits must be named on the Exhibitor Cards provided by the Association.  The Judge will favour a named exhibit in close competition.

All roots to be left on vegetables, except Onions, Shallots, and Celery.  Tomatoes to have stalks.  Beetroots, Carrots, Parsnips, Swedes, and Turnips should have top foliage trimmed to not more than 3 inches from the top of the shoulder of the vegetable.   Cauliflowers  trimmed to show curd.   Foliage allowed in soft fruit class.

Where pot sizes are specified, exhibits displayed in pots which do not conform to the specified size will be disqualified.

Pot Plants to be exhibited in plant pots only.

Vases for cut flower classes will be provided by the Association except for class 35 - Top Vase.

Floral Art entries must be arranged and staged in the exhibition during the hours specified.  For space allowed - see Floral Art classes.

Photography classes - exhibitor labels must be placed behind the photographs.  Photographs should be no larger than 10" x 8", unmounted and margin-free.

Art class - exhibits to be mounted or framed in a form suitable for hanging.
Judging
Judging commences promptly at 11.00am and exhibitors are not permitted in the room or to re-enter until the opening time for the show.

Points are awarded as follows:  1st - 5 points;  2nd - 3 points;  3rd - 1 point.

Any prize may be modified or withheld - if, in the opinion of the Judges, the exhibit is considered not of sufficient merit.

Any exhibitor making an objection must do so, in writing, before 2.30pm and pay £1.  The decision of the Association is final.
Prize Money
Prize monies will be paid on the day of the Show, usually from 3.30pm onwards.
Disposal of Exhibits
No exhibit may be removed before 4.30pm.  Any Exhibitor NOT wishing to leave an exhibit for the sale which commences after prize giving must put a "Reserve" label on it before the sale.
